Curious Case of Benjamin Button

CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON REVIEW

A Summary: This is a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a baby who is born as an old man and ages physically in reverse but mentally forward. It follows Benjamin Button and his adventures as he attends Yale, joins the army, works for his family business, marries, and deals with life in reverse.

Review: I love F. Scott Fitzgerald, as I am a huge fan of both Gatsby and The Beautiful and Damned. So, in that sense, I really do love his style of writing and the almost effortless penmanship his literature has. I want to say a year ago I watched the movie based upon this story which stars Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett, and though I NEVER say this, the movie was better than the book. In this case, I think this short story could, and probably, should have been developed into a novel of its own. Due to this fact, the movie takes the main premise and points of the story and turns it into a wonderful cinematic experience. While reading the story I was just left with the feeling that I wanted more of the story and more details of Benjamin's adventures and life (as the movie does). However, that is probably a testament to Fitzgerald writing leaving you to want to read more of his works. I think next up on my list of his works to read is Tender Is the Night!

For what it's worth: It's never too late, or in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There's no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you've never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you're proud of. If you find that you're not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.
